Golf is a sport which has had very many tournaments introduced. This is due to an increase in the number of golf fans and also players. The first golf tournament was held in 1860. New golf tournaments have been coming to the fore ever since. There are only a few major golf tournaments around the world. Many of the golf tournaments are just minor tournaments though they attract golfers and also a large fan base.
Minor tournaments are not considered as important as the major tournaments and are slowly losing their fan base. Rory Mcllroy who recently won 15 million dollars in a major tournament, insisted on minor tournaments bei
ng viewed as important as the majors. He said that the calendar arrangement of the golf tournaments should be re-checked and place at a position that will enable fans to follow the major and minor tournaments without losing interest.
Rory went on to state that the major competitions are only carried out within 4 months. He feels that these major competitions should be spread out throughout the year just like tennis competitions to have the full attention of the fans for the whole year and not only 4 months.
